Mayor’s 2019 CDT Redemption Hike Day 24

CDT Redemption Hike 2019- Lawnmower

Zero Day

July 13, 2019

Wasn’t really planning to zero today, but with free accommodations and some severe weather slated for the afternoon – I seized the day… to be lazy.

Also, I shaved my head. My vow to let everything grow for the year only lasted less than 7 months. I just couldn’t do it anymore. So greasy. So dirty and matted. I couldn’t even wear sunglasses because the moisture and heat coming off my hairy head kept them fogged. I feel much better and much cooler without it. The beard is on probation now too…

Not much to tell about the day. Just napped, resupplied, and hung out with other hikers. We all went out for pizza and a beer around 4 pm. Out of the 7 of us, I knew 3 of them from either the AT, the PCT, or both. It’s a small trail world, and it really is incredible how you tend to run into the same familiar faces over and over again on opposite ends of the country, and in the middle of nowhere to boot.

Planning to hit the trail hard tomorrow morning. I’ve got a long 100-mile stretch into the next town of Darby through the Anaconda Pintler Wilderness. I’m hoping for good weather, and we’ll see what happens with the other hikers here.

  1. Love the Cold Smoke Scotch Ale! Me and my sister had that in Whitefish this past March! So tasty, we went back for another taste a couple days later! 🍻
