It was a short but grueling slog this morning;  my legs felt like anvils and my feet throbbed.  We only had a 500 foot climb to tackle,  but it felt like a giant.

After reaching the road at Steven’s Pass,  it took me about an hour to secure a ride into Leavenworth, 35ish miles to the east.  There is a German festival going on here at the moment,  so the town is swamped.  The entire place is modeled after a Bavarian Village,  a very cool novelty of a town.  Tourists abound everywhere,  but that doesn’t bother me in a town like this; tourists are what it was made for,  no other reason,  so you might as well go along with it.

The plan is to eat as much authentic German food as I can, look for shoes, and rest.  Only 188 miles to go.

Go to DAy 163.
