Sure as taxes,  it stormed last night,  the thunder like a dragon’s roar reverberating off the rock strewn mountains; to me,  comforting. Thunder reminds me of home and endless days spent outside on and around the water,  within the storms, fishing,  working,  and otherwise enjoying myself.

This day was fraught with only two big climbs,  but big enough and rocky enough to have me exhausted by 20 miles once reaching a big lake. Rather than finish up the 1,400 ft climb ahead of me,  I decided to call it a day  about halfway up the second climb.

Katana had me rushing to catch up with her on the climbs and descents; she’s running me rampant.  Twice she shot off trail to pursue deer,  but quickly came back after realizing she was outmatched on that terrain.

For the most part it was an uneventful day filled with a hand full of awe inspiring views.  I made a fire tonight,  possibly the last one of this journey,  and cooked all the bacon for Katana. I snuck a few pieces for myself,  but she got the lion’s share.

The weather is supposed to deteriorate tomorrow;  we’ll see how bad it gets.

Go to Day 161.
