Thoughts/Stories-
Happy Birthday Katana!

The rain began around 2 am, and kept falling non stop, all day;  still falling as I write this.

For the most part I just kept my head down and pushed forward.  It was quite chilly and windy,  but Katana persevered through the entire day. She normally starts off kind of grouchy when beginning the day in the rain.  She goes from being warm and dry, to cold and wet for seemingly no reason, in her eye(s) at least.  So it was a few miles before she found her pace and forgot what it meant to be warm and comfortable.

We did take shelter at a random cabin that was set up for snowmobilers in the winter.  It’s open to the public, and mostly hikers use it,  but we were very fortunate to happen upon one of the very few shelters on this trail during a day of inclement weather. There were half a dozen locals there, and about the same amount of hikers, and they had the cabin’s wood stove burning hot.  We warmed up and dried off for about two hours before setting back out into the maelstrom and hiking another 7 miles.

For the entire day there were no animals and no views,  just white out fog, mist, and rain in all the places where you might have been able to see for some distance; who knows what I missed.

*** As a matter of fact,  all of these pictures on this post are from tomorrow.  I didn’t take any pictures on this day due to the downpour.

I called it a day pretty much as soon as we hit the 20 mile mark. Both of us were soggy, cold, and ready for a good night’s rest.  I have no clue what the weather will do tomorrow, but I only want another 20 miles.  I’m determined to keep to that goal.
