Thoughts/Stories-
We spent most of the day in town having breakfast, charging up battery packs, socializing, having lunch, then waiting for more than an hour to get a hitch back to trail.
When we finally got picked up, it was by a Chillean family that lived in Oregon. They were extremely kind as we spent the drive talking about Chile, the local hikes, and food.
We didn’t actually get to the trail until after 2 pm, but once we got going, we didn’t stop. Crushing a 2,000 ft climb without breaking stride and taking in some gorgeous views of Mt. Adams as we snaked around the sides of it.
The pain in my knee from the bee sting is gone, but it still itches. I was slightly worried that might get worse.
Katana did incredible as usual, and I was mostly on her schedule and pace. Today was coolest its been in a while, but I think the snow and ice covered Mt Adams above me might have something to do with it. The wind is pretty knarly too, making it that much cooler.
We have a great view of the mountain from where we’re camped. I’m bundled up in nearly all my layers and katana is tucked away in the sleeping bag. We only made 13 miles today, so I’m going to try and make up that extra 7 miles tomorrow.
Where is the rest of that Elk?
