Thoughts/Stories-

Slept in,  then had some chicken and waffles at the lodge, a southern staple; if you’ve never had them,  then you better get busy livin’, or get busy dyin’.

Hit the trail a little before 11 am and just walked steady. The most impressive part of the day was walking along the slopes of Mt. Thielsen, with its impressive peak towering above.  I would say Thielsen had the most dramatic, noteworthy peak of any mountain I’ve seen so far.

Besides Mt Thielsen, I crossed the highest point on the trail between Oregon and Washington at 7,560 ft; I’ll never be any higher in altitude than that for the rest of the journey.

I had a nice easy walk to where I wanted to camp and ended up with some other north and south bound hikers. It’s nice to have some company

I’m getting pretty anxious for this long birthday hike.  I really don’t want to disappoint myself…
