Managed to get back to the trail by 9, and hiking by 9:30 after talking with some other hikers that were sitting by the road.
I felt good, but I didn’t feel like rushing myself. Keeping a very comfortable pace, I took very few breaks as I encountered 1,200 ft climb after 1,200 ft climb. I think I did about four of those in total, each descent being about the same as the climb. It was grueling, but I didn’t exert myself.
To be honest, it was a very uneventful and unproductive day in terms of interesting thoughts, internal dialogues, wildlife, etc.
I stopped hiking around 7, with a little over 25 miles completed. It’s so cool to see what was once considered a big day, come so easily to me now. As I pushed myself harder, my legs began to move faster with less effort each day. What feels like “leisurely walking” with minimal effort, is actually a 3+mph pace. My body is reaching the levels of endurance that its been reaching for.
“Push until you feel you can go no further, then push a little more; next time that feeling will come later.”
Words to live by.
I want 36 miles tomorrow.
